Emily Dickinson was a poet in the 1800’s, who wrote over 400 poems. Virginia Woolf was a author who believed in women independence. Murasaki Shikibu was known to be the world’s first novelist. Gloria Jean Watkins was an American author and a social activist. Gloria Steinem was also a social and a  political activist.

These late historians were all were strong women. They all were feminist. They stood for womens’ rights strongly. They felt as though women were just as qualified as men to do any job. They wanted to be treated fairly. As times have changed o you notice anything different?

It’s a poem in the 101 Great American Poems book called The Leaed-Eye. From this poem I got a feeling that it’s somene trying to take a stand. Comparing themselves to someone else. One line says ” Let not young souls be smothered out before” that part striked me as a person saying, this is all the same! I’m tired of the same things going on, because we can do it to. I think it’s an nspirational poem.
